Woodbine Manor Newsletter – March 2025

Welcome to this month’s newsletter.
WOW! Haven’t we been spoilt with some beautiful sunshine, spring is definitely in the air. We feel very blessed to have the amazing Hotham Park on our doorstep, hopefully you have seen the residents out and about enjoying the weather. The signs of flowers blooming and the squirrels running across the park have been a pleasure to see. We encourage you to make the most of the weather and take your love ones out, we have plenty of wheelchairs available.

Our new look social calendar has been very well received by the residents who are enjoying the new activities. We have been planning lots of amazing event’s throughout the year, so many things to look forward too. Keep your eye’s pealed. Thank you to everyone who follows and likes our post’s on social media.

We were amazed by the lovely children from Dizzy Ducklings preschool who entertained us singing nursery rhymes, everyone had big smiles on their faces and the children behaved impeccably. The visit made it into the local newspaper! Thank you again for being so much joy to Woodbine Manor.
April is looked jam packed with lots of Easter arts and crafts, an egg hunt and we have George and Ivy visiting us. Two very well behaved sensory bunnies that enjoy lots of attention and cuddles. Kerry and Sue will be in with another great performance to get us up and dancing. We are also looking forward to our trip to Haskins garden centre.
Our next resident’s and families will be on Friday 25th April @11am. We will email you the agenda list before, giving you the opportunity to add any of your thoughts. If you can’t make it but would like to add to the agenda please email us. Minutes from the meeting will also be sent out to all families.

This month, Ray launched his Gardening Club on Tuesday afternoons, and it’s already growing strong! Residents have been busy planting sunflower seeds, trying their hand at flower arranging, and planning for tomatoes and potatoes in pots. There’s been lots of laughter, soil, and sunshine—and we can’t wait to see what blooms next! 🌼🥔🍅

Our Baking Club is in Full Swing! 🧁🍞

We’re excited to share that our Baking Club has officially become part of our regular activities—and it’s already a big hit! Our residents love rolling up their sleeves, sharing cherished recipes, and reminiscing about the good old days. There’s something truly special about the smell of fresh-baked treats and the warmth of shared memories. 💛

🏡 Home Improvements Update!

There will be lots of improvements going on in the home and in gardens. From new look front gardens, decking and seating areas. We would love to make the garden easier for the residents to grow flowers and vegetables in raised beds. We’ve been working hard to create more welcoming and accessible outdoor spaces. One of our goals is to make gardening easier and more enjoyable for residents by introducing raised beds for flowers and vegetables—more details on that coming soon!

Unfortunately, we also experienced a major leak downstairs—which caused a bit of disruption; and no, it wasn’t the start of our new indoor pool, much to the disappointment of some residents!

During Jan-March all residents had a medication review and in May we have the optician visiting the home and we are currently looking to secure an NHS dentist.

In April we will also start with our spring menu, we have been asking the residents what they would like to see on the menu. If you have any thoughts we would love to hear them.
