Woodbine Manor Newsletter – October 2025

Welcome to this month’s newsletter
Thank you to everyone who attended our latest Residents and Families Meeting.
It was great to meet Tom Scott from Carewise, who gave us an informative talk on the services they offer. We look forward to welcoming more guest speakers in the new year!
With the end of British Summer Time, we hope you made the most of the extra hour today – whether it was for a lie-in, a quiet coffee, or a slow start to the morning.

What a fun month October has been!
We had the pleasure of meeting Graham from a local rescue centre who introduced us to the charming hedgehog Henry. They truly are fascinating little animals, and it was wonderful to learn more about them and their care.
Taking advantage of some warm autumn sunshine, we also spent time in the garden planting daffodil bulbs, a hopeful little nod to the spring that’s waiting just around the corner.
To celebrate Halloween, we enjoyed making spooky arts and crafts, creating masks, and carving pumpkins – everyone did a fantastic job! All sweets and no tricks as we enjoyed spooky chocolate lollies and tasty treats.
Things to look forward to in November include our hotdogs and fireworks evening on Wednesday 5th , we hope the British weather is on our side for this event!
We welcome Tony for a fun morning of magic, animal puppets and balloon modelling, he always brings laughter and smiles to his show. Geoff joins us with his wide range of musical talents, including a performance on the accordion.

We’re Excited for a Festive Trip to Haskins Garden Centre!
We are thrilled to be taking some of our residents on a special outing to Haskins Garden Centre! Their Christmas display and shop are truly spectacular, a local favourite and a magical way to get into the festive spirit. From twinkling lights to beautiful decorations, we’re sure it will be a memorable day full of joy, wonder, and maybe even a few early gifts!

You asked, we delivered
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our recent mobile shopping event with Gemini. Our residents and their families truly enjoyed the experience – it was a wonderful opportunity to browse and shop together. The clothing on offer was of high quality, great value, and there was a fantastic variety to choose from, making the event a real success. We’re pleased to share that we are already looking forward to arranging another visit in the spring, just in time for the new season. Thank you once again for your continued support.

Home improvements
The end is in sight for the completion of our new passenger lift! Work is scheduled to be finished around the 25th of November. While we can’t promise a grand opening, staff and residents are already looking forward to enjoying the benefits of the new lift.
Behind the scenes, we’re continuing to work on the new signage throughout the home. Although we’ve faced a few setbacks, we’re hopeful this will be completed soon.
We’re also excited to share that bedroom renovations have begun! Two rooms have already received a fresh coat of paint in uplifting new colours. New furniture, armchairs, and curtains have been ordered to complement the updated look. As discussed, we will be working our way around the home to update more rooms in due course.

We appreciate you taking the time to visit our website. Your interest and support inspire everything we do.
Thank you for being part of our story.

Warmest wishes,

The Woodbine Manor Team
