Hello 2026! I think we can all agree that January feels like the longest month of the year. Roll on spring, when we can enjoy time in the garden and walks around the park again. It’s been lovely to spot the early signs of the season, with daffodils already popping up along the hedgerows.
Unfortunately, we had to postpone our residents and families meeting. We’ll share a new date as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding, and please keep an eye out for an update soon!

What a fun month January has been!
We may not have seen much sunshine or blue skies recently, but we’ve certainly been keeping our residents busy with fun and engaging activities.
Our Burns Night celebrations went very well, incorporating Try It Tuesday. Residents enjoyed sampling different types of traditional haggis, all-butter Scottish shortbread, and even a wee dram of whisky! The sound of the bagpipe music really set the tone and made the day feel extra special. Our creative minds also got to work decorating kites for National Kite Day. These are currently on display in the lounge, eagerly awaiting the right wind so they can take to the skies.
We had a fantastic Music for Health workshop with Sharni, bringing together music, movement and meditation. Shay was back with his popular country western set, and Mark, as always, captivated everyone with his beautiful violin playing.
We also celebrated an incredible milestone with wonderful celebrations for a very special 103rd birthday.

What’s happening in February!
As well as celebrating Pancake Day and Chinese New Year with a delicious menu, we’ll also be welcoming two new entertainers. Inspired by St Valentine’s Day, our arts and crafts will burst with joyful colour, creativity, and messages of love.
Colin will be visiting us with his birds of prey, sharing his wealth of knowledge and giving everyone the chance to meet some of his magnificent birds. We’ll also be joined by Jamie, fresh back from the West End, bringing us a fantastic show tunes set.

You asked, we delivered
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to reach us during busy periods. To help, we have now installed multiple phone lines. This means that if one line is busy, your call will automatically be connected to another line. Additionally, we have added a second Wi-Fi line as a backup, ensuring that our up-to-date systems remain online and accessible at all times.

Home improvements
Fantastic News! We are pleased to announce that the passenger lift is now fully operational. After resolving a few initial teething issues, the lift is now available for use by all visitors. We sincerely thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this period. As the lift was specially designed and manufactured for our building, it was not an off-the-shelf installation, which explains the extended timeframe. Thank you once again for your cooperation, and we encourage you to make full use of the lift.
During February , we will be updating the front door due to some technical issues with our current one. Soon, work will begin on a new wet room with a toilet downstairs and in the spring, we’ll be refreshing the exterior of the home with a new coat of paint. Keep an eye out for the colour options and make sure to have your say-vote for your favourite!
Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter and for your ongoing support and involvement in our home. Our residents continue to enjoy meaningful activities, companionship, and care, and it means so much to us to work in partnership with families.
Warmest wishes,
The Woodbine Manor Team
