Woodbine Manor Newsletter – May 2025

Welcome to this month’s newsletter!
This month some of our team had the pleasure of visiting the Care Show London @Excell, we had a fantastic time exploring the latest innovations and connecting with professionals in the care industry. We were amazed by the development and growth, improving the services we provide. Our next residents and families meeting with be on Friday 27th June @11am, we welcome Lindsey Balchin from Enable who will be informing you about the services they offer as well as our usual catch up on Woodbine News.

During May we have celebrated the VE day 80th Anniversary in style. We held a wonderful street party lunch with homemade trifle, luxury strawberry sponge cake and all joined in performing a medley of wartime classic singalong songs. We were wowed by the amazing Tickled Pink who performed a fantastic show featuring songs that helped win the war and keep the home fires burning. Our tea and talk morning to raise awareness on mental health was a great success for residents and staff. We spoke about the different ways to deal with stress and how we can help ourselves. Staff are supporting mental health awareness by wear the green ribbon pin badges.

June is looking to be full of fun as we celebrate Father’s Day and during Cooking Club the residents will be making sausage rolls for National Sausage Roll day. As well as all our usual activities, morning exercise, gardening club and quiz afternoons we will be entertained by Mark who performs with his violin and Kerry & Sue are back with another fun show. Please see our June social planner for all our activities planned.
Monday 9th June is the start of carers week, celebrating the heroes who choose to work in care. A career which requires dedication, commitment and compassion.

YOU ASKED WE DELIVERED!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote on the paint colour for the corridors. All the colours we voted on were all dementia friendly, creating less shadows and not over stimulating. Snail Trail was the clear favourite and as you can see its given a fresh new look around the Home. Our new look summer menu has been very well received by the residents, keeping in with seasonal fruits, vegetables and lighter deserts. Thank you to the families who returned the food questionnaire we sent out last month, you had some great ides which have been added to the menu.

HOME IMPROVEMENTS
WOW! What a difference a month makes, as you can see there is lots of amazing projects being carried out throughout the home. The fresh looking painting as you enter the home will complement the new flooring being laid next month. The new decking has been completed around the Woodbine Arms and the new garden sofas have arrived to finish the look. Ray’s gardening club have grown some delicious looking salad and beautiful sunflowers in the high container. The pond is having a deep clean and tidy up as well as other landscaping.
We are creating a small snug corner for quiet thinking and relaxing. This area will look like a library, and have a selection of books for the residents who enjoy reading. The air conditioning has now been fitted in the dining room and kitchen, so we are ready for a heat wave! All these works have been well planned and executed to benefit the residents and the overall look of the home. We would love to hear any feedback on the improvements so far.
