🌟Welcome to this month’s newsletter 🌟

Welcome to our May newsletter! As spring blossoms around us, we are enjoying the brighter days, colourful flowers, and cheerful atmosphere that the merry month of May brings. There has been a lovely sense of happiness throughout the home, with residents enjoying a variety of activities, time in the garden, and special moments shared together.

We would like to thank all our families, friends, and supporters for your continued kindness and support. Your visits, encouragement, and thoughtful gestures mean so much to both our residents and staff and help make our home such a warm and caring place.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the special moments, celebrations, and happy memories shared here at the home during the past month.

🌟 What a fun-filled month May has been! 🌟

May has been packed with smiles, laughter, music, and wonderful moments shared together. We’ve enjoyed a fantastic variety of activities throughout the month, with plenty of opportunities to reminisce, socialise, and make new memories along the way.

One of the highlights of the month was our VE Day celebration performance by Chloe, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The room was filled with music, singing, and dancing as we joined in with much-loved wartime classics and songs from years gone by. The performance brought back many happy memories, sparked conversations about the past, and created such a warm and uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we came together to “wear something green” in support of the campaign. It was lovely to see everyone taking part while enjoying tea, coffee, and a delicious selection of cakes together. We spent time having open and supportive conversations, checking in with one another, and sharing laughter and encouragement. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of friendship, kindness, and looking after our wellbeing.

Our group discussions this month have also been full of lively conversation and storytelling. We talked about the recent elections, sharing thoughts and opinions in a friendly and engaging way, and we also enjoyed reminiscing about beaches we have visited over the years. From childhood seaside holidays and donkey rides to favourite coastal destinations and fish and chips by the sea, these conversations sparked plenty of laughter, fond memories, and interesting stories from everyone.

As always, there has been lots of fun, companionship, and special moments shared throughout the month, and we have captured plenty of lovely photos along the way. Be sure to like and follow us on social media to keep up to date with all our latest activities, events, and highlights!

🌟 What’s Happening in June 🌟

June is set to be an exciting and action-packed month as we come together to celebrate the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026! Throughout the month, residents will be enjoying a variety of football-themed activities designed to bring fun, creativity, reminiscence, and togetherness to our home. From making colourful World Cup bunting and designing personalised football shirts to friendly match screenings in the TV room, there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to join in the excitement and cheer on their favourite teams.

Residents can also look forward to football quizzes, themed games, penalty shoot-out competitions, and reminiscence sessions where we’ll share memories of famous matches, favourite players, and past tournaments. These activities are a wonderful way to encourage conversation, laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition among residents and staff alike.

On Monday 15th June, we are delighted to celebrate Open Care Home Week, a special opportunity for us to open our doors to the local community. We warmly welcome visitors old and new to come along, meet our residents and dedicated staff, ask questions, and enjoy a relaxed tour around our home. It’s a chance to experience daily life within our community, learn more about the care, support, and activities we provide, and enjoy friendly conversation over refreshments in our welcoming environment. Families, friends, healthcare professionals, and members of the local community are all invited to join us and experience the warm, caring atmosphere we are proud to offer.

Throughout the week, the football celebrations will continue with even more interactive activities, helping to create a lively and joyful atmosphere for everyone to enjoy together. Whether you are joining in a game, supporting from the sidelines, or simply sharing memories and laughter, there will be something for everyone to take part in.

🌟 You Asked, We Delivered 🌟

Thank you to everyone who recently completed our family questionnaires. We truly appreciate the time you took to share your feedback, suggestions, and kind comments. Your views are incredibly important to us and help us continue to improve the experience and wellbeing of everyone living at our home.

Following the feedback received, we’re pleased to let you know that our Residents’ and Families’ Meetings will now take place every other month, alternating between Mondays and Fridays to make attendance easier for more families. Meetings will continue to be held at 11:00am, as this time works well for our residents and supports good participation. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to share updates, discuss ideas, and ensure everyone feels involved in the life of the home.

For any family members who are unable to attend in person but would like to join via video link, please let us know in advance so we can arrange this for you. We want to ensure that all families have the opportunity to stay connected and involved, wherever possible.

We’re also delighted to share that our new summer menu has now launched, featuring a variety of fresh seasonal meals, lighter dishes, and homemade favourites that have already been very well received by residents. Mealtimes continue to be an important social part of the day, and our kitchen team always welcomes feedback and preferences from residents and families.

If you would like to join your loved one for a meal, we would be very happy to welcome you-please just let us know in advance so arrangements can be made.

🌟 Home Improvements 🌟

The outside of the home is undergoing a fantastic transformation! Although the scaffolding is still in place while the final stages of work continue, the improvements are already making a huge difference. The walls have been carefully restored and freshly painted, giving the building a brighter and more modern appearance. Once the scaffolding is removed, everyone will be able to fully appreciate the refreshed look and welcoming feel of the home. The new paintwork has created a clean, cheerful, and homely environment that residents, visitors, and staff are sure to enjoy.

Our gardens are coming along beautifully too and are becoming lovely spaces for residents to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Emma G has been taking the lead on the hanging baskets, carefully planting colourful flowers that brighten the entrances and outdoor seating areas. We also now have a herb garden filled with a variety of fresh herbs, along with hanging strawberry and tomato baskets in the kitchen garden, adding even more colour and life to our outdoor spaces.

Residents have enjoyed being involved in the gardening, helping with planting, watering, and caring for the flowers and herbs. It has been wonderful to see everyone taking pride in the improvements and enjoying spending more time outdoors as the warmer weather arrives. The outdoor areas are quickly becoming peaceful and welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy throughout the spring and summer months.

Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter.

We hope you’ve enjoyed catching up on all the wonderful activities, celebrations, and special moments that have taken place in our home this month. Every day brings new opportunities for laughter, friendship, and creating meaningful memories, and it is a pleasure to share those moments with you.

We look forward to seeing what next month brings and to sharing more happy memories with you. Until then, take care and thank you for being part of our care home family.

Warm Wishes

The Woodbine Manor Team
