July has been another wonderful month here at Woodbine Manor, filled with laughter, friendship and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful summer weather. From relaxing in the garden and welcoming family and friends to enjoying live entertainment, sporting events and delicious treats, our residents have embraced everything the month has had to offer.
This newsletter is a chance to look back on some of our favourite moments and celebrate the smiles, achievements and special memories we’ve shared together. We hope you enjoy reading about our activities and seeing the photographs that capture the warmth and happiness of life at Woodbine Manor.

🌟 What a Fun Month July Has Been! 🌟
The beautiful weather has definitely played a big part in our July activities! We’ve been making the most of the sunshine by spending time in the garden, where residents have enjoyed relaxing outdoors and welcoming visits from family and friends.
There has been plenty of excitement throughout the month as residents and staff embraced the fun of both the World Cup and Wimbledon, cheering on their favourite teams and players together.
One of the highlights was a wonderful violin performance by Mark, who treated everyone to a peaceful and relaxing afternoon of music on one of the hottest days of the year. We were also delighted to welcome back Doug the Shetland Pony, whose gentle nature and friendly visits always bring so many smiles. Spending time with Doug was a truly heartwarming experience for everyone.
Our ever-popular Try It Tuesday also proved to be a big hit as residents sampled a variety of delicious ice cream flavours. After much tasting and discussion, Strawberries & Clotted Cream was crowned the clear favourite!
July was also a month of giving back to our local community. We were incredibly proud to sponsor a fabulous luxury hamper for the wonderful team at Sage House for their Summer Fayre, supporting the fantastic work they do for people living with dementia and their families.
As a small thank you to those who care for our community every day, we were also delighted to treat the hardworking staff in the A&E Department at St Richard’s Hospital to a surprise visit from Pinks Ice Cream Van. It was a well-deserved treat, and we hope it brought a smile to their faces during a busy shift.
🌟 What’s Happening in August 🌟
We’re excited for another fun-filled month at Woodbine Manor! One of the highlights will be our coach trip to Littlehampton, where residents will enjoy a stroll along the seafront, take in the fresh sea air, and hopefully indulge in a traditional seaside treat or two.
We also have some fantastic entertainers joining us throughout the month, including Jamie with his wonderful show tunes and Shay, who will be bringing his lively Country & Western set. Alongside our entertainment, we’ll be putting our knowledge to the test with some fun quizzes, keeping active with an exercise class from GFitness, and enjoying many of our favourite daily activities.
August is also a very special month as we’ll be celebrating five residents’ birthdays, and we can’t wait to mark each occasion with cake, smiles and plenty of birthday cheer!
There’s something for everyone to enjoy. Copies of our full August social calendar are available online, or if you would prefer a paper copy, please pop into the office and we’ll be happy to provide one. We look forward to sharing another month of smiles, laughter and special memories with you all.
🌟You Asked, We Delivered🌟
We’re always listening to the feedback from our residents and families, and this month we’ve continued to make improvements across the home. We’ve added more comfortable seating and homely finishing touches as we continue to enhance Woodbine Manor, creating a warm, welcoming environment that truly feels like home.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll also be sending out our latest feedback surveys. We truly value your thoughts and opinions, as they help us continue to improve the care and environment we provide. We would be very grateful if you could take a few moments to complete and return your survey. Thank you for your continued support and valuable suggestions-they really do help shape Woodbine Manor for everyone.
🌟Home Improvements🌟
We’ve continued to make exciting improvements around Woodbine Manor this month as part of our ongoing commitment to creating a warm, comfortable and welcoming home for our residents. Several more bedrooms have been beautifully redecorated and redesigned, with fresh décor, new furnishings and thoughtful finishing touches to make each room feel bright, modern and homely.
Throughout the home, we’ve also been adding the little details that make a big difference, from new soft furnishings and decorative touches to creating inviting spaces for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy.
One of the biggest milestones this month has been seeing the scaffolding finally come down. It has been wonderful to reveal the home’s freshly painted exterior, giving Woodbine Manor a bright new look that we’re all incredibly proud of. We’d like to thank our residents, families and staff for their patience while these improvements have been taking place.
We’re also looking ahead to one of the highlights of the year-our Summer Garden Party in September! This promises to be a wonderful afternoon filled with great food, entertainment and the chance for residents, families and friends to spend quality time together in our beautiful gardens. Formal invitations, along with full event details, will be sent out soon, and we hope you’ll be able to join us for this special occasion.
As we close another wonderful month at Woodbine Manor, we’d like to thank our residents, families, friends and dedicated team for making every day so special. Your kindness, laughter and continued support create the warm, caring community that we’re so proud to call home.
